Ingredients
| CRUST | |
| 3 c | flour |
| 1 tsp | salt |
| 1 c | shortening |
| 7 Tbsp | milk |
| 1 | egg yolk, beaten |
| 1 c | crushed cornflakes |
| FILLING | |
| 8 lg | apples, cut up |
| 1 c | sugar |
| 1 tsp | cinnamon |
| CRUST TOPPER | |
| 1 | egg white, beaten stiff |
| GLAZE | |
| 1 c | powdered sugar |
| 3 Tbsp | water |
| 1 tsp | vanilla extract |

Directions
Sift together flour and salt. Cut in shortening until crumbly.Combine milk and egg yolk. Stir into flour mixture until evenly moistened. (Using your hands works best).Divide dough almost in half. Roll out large half, place in 10 x 15 baking pan.Press dough up on sides of pan, sprinkle with crushed cornflakes.Arrange sliced apples over the top of the crushed cornflakes.combine sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over apples.Roll out other half of dough to fit on top of apples.Moisten edges of dough with water, seal.
*Make a batch and a half of the dough to make sure you have enough to seal.Spread egg white over crust. Bake at 375 degrees for one hour or until golden brown. ( Usually about 50 minutes).Combine powdered sugar, water and vanilla for glaze. Drizzle over bars while warm.
