Ingredients For salted caramel sauce

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 3/4 c
    heavy cream, cold
  • 1/2 stick
    butter, unsalted
  • 1 tsp
    sea salt, coarse

How To Make salted caramel sauce

    In a medium pot, combine sugar & water over low heat, cook, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves, 10 minutes.

    Increase heat & bring to boil, without stirring. Boil until syrup is deep amber, 8 minutes.

    Remove syrup from heat; slowly whisk in cream. (MIXTURE WILL BUBBLE UP - BE CAREFUL!)

    Stir in butter & salt. Transfer to a bowl to cool (sauce will thicken up as it cools.

    Reheat before serving over ice cream or cakes, etc.
