Victoria's Notes:

This is one of my favorites that my mother used to make for us as a child. I am grown and still love making it for my Hubby :) Try it once and there's no turning back!!

MY mom used to make something similar to this. We used every kind of ice cream. She called it Oreo freak out .This sure brings back memories. Thanks

I make something like this but we call it Oreo Cookie Delight. the only differance is I back the cookies (mixed with butter) to make a crust then I use vanilla ice cream, will have to try it with the mint we all like that :-) Thanks for the idea.

I am assuming that you crush the oreo cookies, before mixing with the butter?. Figured, but just wanted to be sure. This sounds awesome. Having a BBQ next weekend and this sounds like the ultimate dessert. Thanks for posting.

We made this all the time at home. We called it ice cream cake. We press the Oreo cookie crumb/butter mixture into the pan for the crust. Any ice cream works. We also used a graham cracker crust and caramel topping with a vanilla or butter pecan ice cream.

If you're a strawberry fan (my DIL is) layer golden Oreo crumbs, strawberry ice cream, crushed strawberries or thawed frozen, then top with Cool Whip. I've found that the cream filling is enough to "hold" the crumb crust together...no need for butter. Regular Oreos also go great with coffee ice cream, too.

Turria Duenas - yes you crush the cookies :-) I just put them in a gallon size zip lock and use my rolling pin to hit the cookies :-)
