Norma's Hot Buttered Rum Sauce

- packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c

- (14 ounce) sweetened condensed milk ( not evaporated )
- 1/4 c
- dark rum if desired
- 2 tsp
1Add brown sugar, butter, salt and condensed milk to a 2-quart saucepan.
2Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent scorching.
3Cook until sugar is dissolved.
4Remove from heat. Stir in rum and vanilla and mix well.
5Pour into 2 (10 ounce) decorative jars and screw on lid and ring.
6Store in refrigerator.
7Serve warm over ice cream.
