DirectionsTo make filling: Combine sugar and water in saucepan and bring to a boil.Add cranberries and cook until cranberries pop, about 5 minutes.Add orange juice, peel, butter, cinnamon and salt. Cook until mixture thickens, about 5 more minutes.Remove from heat and stir in walnuts. Set aside to cool.To make dough: Sift flour, salt and sugar. Cut in butter.Add oatmeal and mix thoroughly.Pat half the oatmeal dough in an ungreased 13 x 9 x 2 pan, patting dough down firmly and evenly.Spread filling on top.Pat remaining oatmeal dough over the filling.Bake in a preheated 425 degree oven for 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned.Cool and cut into bars.
