pitted cherries (red sour or dark sweet)
sugar * (1/2 c if u use sour cherries)
Melt butter in 9" square pan. In bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking powder and milk. Mix until well blended.
Pour over melted butter; DO NOT STIR.
Pour undrained cherries over batter; DO NOT STIR.
Sprinkle sugar over cherries; DO NOT STIR.
Bake at 325 for 1 hour.
Serve warm with whipped cream, or chilled.
