Ingredients

1 can(s)
red sour pitted cherries
1.5 Tbsp
cornstarch
4 tsp
sugar
1/4 tsp
almond extract

TOPPING INGREDIENTS

1/2 c
quick cooking oats
2 Tbsp
chopped walnuts
1 Tbsp
butter, melted

Step-By-Step

1Drain cherries, reserving 3/4 cup juice.

2Combine small amount of juice, cornstarch and sugar in saucepan.

3Stir in remaining juice.

4Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly until thickened and clear.

5Remove from heat.

6Add cherries and extract.

7Spread in 8-inch pan.

8Topping: Preheat oven to 375.

9Mix oats and walnuts in small bowl.

10Add margarine; mix well with fork--mixture will be crumbly.

11Sprinkle topping over cherries.

12Bake for 20 minutes or until topping is browned.

13Serve warm or chilled.
