I called this Blueberry surprise, because I din't know if this would turn out to be a cobbler or more like a cake, to me it's a little of both. I had a can of Blueberry pie filling, I bought for a pie, We really wanted something sweet, I din't have any pie crusts and din't want to make crusts. So i just put everything togeather , the way I wanted it to taste, This turned out very good . We loved it.
1pre- heat oven to 350 - when oven is pre-heated, place the stick of butter in a 2 qt. baking dish, place dish in oven and melt butter, take dish out when butter is melted and - set aside - To make the crust -
2In a Bowl, place the flour, oats, cinnamon and brown sugar, stir to mix, add the vanilla extract to the cup of milk and pour into the dry mixture in the bowl, stirrring untill well mixed, ( this will not be thick ) pour over he melted butter in the baking dish. this will rise when baking and make an almost cake like crust.
3For the Filling - pour 1 tsp. lemon juice, into the can of blueberry pie filling and stir to mix it in. spoon the filling all over the top of the batter in the baking dish, place in the pre-heated oven and bake untill the crusty cake is a light golden brown and blueberries are bubbling. about 45 to 60 minutes , I had to bake mine for 60 minutes, some ovens it might be less time. Take out and let cool about 20 minutes. this looked thin, untill it set. This is the way we liked ours. it will be juicie, with just enough cakey crust. wonderful with a scoop of Vanilla or Lemon ice cream on top or whipped cream.
