Laura's notes for this recipe:
Serve this with vanilla ice cream. This recipe could very easily be made for a diabetic, using diet sprite and splenda.

The addition of Sprite is clearly some sort of magic trick, because the apples in this recipe cooked absolutely perfectly in just a short amount of time. Be sure to have some vanilla ice cream on hand when making these - It's a must-have finishing touch.

Directions

1
wrap 1 piece of apple in 1 crescent roll. Line in pan about 1/2 inch apart. Next, mix together oleo, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla together. Cook until sugary on med heat. Pour over apple dumplings. Pour sprite down through dumplings, not on top. Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 min.

I made this in cooking class yesterday with a group of six girls at the Girls club and we all loved it. It is a very easy recipe to teach little girls how to cook. Thanks!!!

This sounds so good. I am wondering why you need the Sprite though. Could you bake them without the liquid? What does it do for the recipe?
Thanks for your help.
