Family Tested & Approved
Cut 1 stick of butter into small cubes, place into a 2 quart saucepan on medium heat. Wisk in flour, stirring until smooth. Add spices and apples. Simmer on medium heat.
Prepare a double crust according to recipe directions. (See sweet pie crust)
Place prepared crust into a deep dish pie pan. Add apple filling.
Dot with bits of butter. Cut second pie crust into 1" strips, create a lattice design.
Bake at 425 degrees for 50 minutes.
