love pie the crust is so important ,I mix shortening with butter to make tender but flavorful crust.

Ingredients

2 c
all purpose flour
1/2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
sugar
1/3 c
cold butter freeze
1/3 c
solid shortening
1/3 c
ice water
1/4 c
flour for dusting

Step-By-Step

1mix flour, salt, sugar.

2GRATE butter ( MAKES IT EASIER TO MIX ) and add it with the shortening to flour. mix with hands until it forms a crumb like mixture.

3add ONLY ENOUGH WATER A TABLESPOON AT A TIME ONLY TILL DOUGH HOLDS , form a ball then shape into disc wrap in saran wrap refrigerate at least 1 hr.

4on a flour dusted counter roll dough starting from middle roll out and turn . form crust to pie dish , I prick mine a fork and freeze until firm. it is now ready to bake
