This is my lightened version inspired by Kim127's Recipe #57771 on Food.com. I have reduced the fat and sugar content. My version is now 7 yrs old and we continue to enjoy it.

Ingredients

cake:
1 Tbsp
light margarine
4 Tbsp
unsweetened applesauce
1/4 c
splenda (or sugar)
1/2 c
egg white
1 tsp
vanilla
2 c
flour
3/4 c
splenda granular
1 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp
salt
1 c
fat free sour cream
2 c
chopped apples
topping:
2 Tbsp
chopped walnuts
6 Tbsp
unsweetened applesauce
1/2 c
quick oats
1 tsp
cinnamon
1/4 c
splenda brown sugar blend
2 tsp
melted butter

Step-By-Step

1Preheat oven to 350.

Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 baking pan.

2Melt margarine and mix with applesauce.

Beat applesauce mix with the Splenda or sugar.

Add egg whites and vanilla, beat well.

3Sift together flour, Splenda, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Add dry ingredients to the first mixture alternately with 1 cup sour cream.

Stir in chopped apples.

Spread evenly in greased pan.

4Mix together ingredients for topping.

Sprinkle over batter.

5Bake for 35-40 minutes.
