Directions
Gather the rosette irons, you want to use.
Combine eggs, sugar, and salt, beat well.
Add remaining ingredients, beat till smooth.Heat rosette iron in deep hot oil (350-375) for two minutes.
Drain excess oil from iron; dip into batter to 1/4 inch from the top, then immediately into hot oil.
fry rosette till golden, 10-30 seconds.
Lift out, tip upside down to drain oil back into pan.If the rosette did not drop off iron when frying...use a fork to push off iron onto a rack over paper towels.
Reheat iron again in the oil..make another rosette
Stir batter from time to time as you will get a little oil in it.Sprinkle rosettes with powdered sugar when dry and cool.
Put in a pretty bowl and cover with saran wrap.
Till ready to serve your guests.
The pretty green bowl was made by my sister(Ellyn),and her husband(NORM) and was given to me as a Christmas present(filled with rosettes)about 1965. They had a plastic factory and this was one of there first items they produced.

What a sweet story about your sister and her husband! That sure would be a bowl to keep.
Love the looks of those cookies... I'll bet they are delicious. Wish I could taste one... My mouth is watering just thinking about them.
You've been a busy lady this morning...added several cookbooks, I think and now this recipe!! You are like the energizer bunny...you just keep going, and going and going...

When I was a child we lived in Alaska. Every year they sold these at the fair and called them Flaky Jakes. They were sprinkled with powdered sugar. Mama saved her dimes all year long for our 'fair money'. I always made sure to get at least one of these delicious treats. I want to get some irons so I can make these for special occasions.

back in late 60s early 70s my mother bought a set of the irons at the NY State Fair . I have all the irons now as when she passed no one else wanted them . I have made these for my family and friends at Christmas time and never have any left overs . they are simple and tastes great ! as for the corn starch idea, never thought of it but will give it a try thanks !
