Ceree's Notes:

This recipe comes from my grandmother. She started making these at Christmas time back in 1951. this recipe has been handed down from generation to generation. It is also very simple and not expensive to make. My grandmother had 9 children, so any recipe that was not expensive to make was a blessing.

Directions

1
Pre-heat oven to 325.
2
Mix butter, sugar, all purpose flour, water and vanilla in a medium size bowl.
3
Shape into small fingers and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
4
Bake in oven for 8-10 minutes or until brown.
5
FOR DIPPING AND COATING: (Make sure cookies are completly cool before dipping and coating)
6
Melt chips and shortening together and melt over low heat.
7
Dip cookies in melted chocolate half way.
8
Dip cookies in nuts and place on waxed paper until cool and set.
