Grandma Pana's Oatmeal Drop Cookies

One of my mom's "everyday" cookies. No special occasion needed, just a day when the Milk turned sour. (0:
You may substitute margarine or butter for Crisco.
You do not need to replace the nuts with anything if you take them out. This is how my mom usually made them as my sister was allergic to nuts... I had never had them with nuts until she made them with my daughter.

Serves:

Yields 2 dozen 2 1/2" cookies

Prep:

Ingredients

1/2 c
sugar
1
egg
1/2 tsp
salt
6 Tbsp
crisco shortening
2 Tbsp
sour milk
1 c
rolled oats
1 c
flour
1/4 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
baking powder
1/2 c
raisins
1/2 c
chopped nuts (optional)

Directions Step-By-Step

Beat egg with sugar and salt

Add melted crisco, sour milk & oats, blending well

sift & measure flour, then add baking soda & baking powder and sift together

Add dry mixture to wet mixture & mix just 'til blended

Stir in raisins and nuts

Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet
( these days I use parchment paper instead of grease)

Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for about 12 minutes
( we live at high altitude, so adjust baking time accordingly)
