COMBINE AND COOK 5 MINUTES. LET COOL.
THEN ADD RAISINS MIXTURE AND 4 CUPS OF FLOUR (IF SIFTED ROUND UP)
THEN ADD THE FOLLOWING
combine the raisins, chopped dates, and water. Cook 5 minutes. Then let cool.
Cream together the shortening, white sugar, and eggs. Then add the raisin mixture (when cooled) and 4 cups of flour.
The add the salt, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts to the mixture. Mix until well blended.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or longer if you like them browner.
