Years ago before my children were born, I found this recipe in a cookbook. It was so easy to follow, and always came out tasting so good. The key is not to overcook, so the cookies are chewy and soft.
brown sugar, lightly packed
sifted all-purpose flour
semi-sweet chocolate chips
1In a mixing bowl combine the shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla. Beat mixture till thoroughly combined. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture blending well.
2Stir in chocolate pieces, and if desired nuts.
3Drop dough by rounded teaspoon 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes or till edges are lightly browned.
4Cool cookies on a wire rack.
