Cecelia's Notes:

Years ago before my children were born, I found this recipe in a cookbook. It was so easy to follow, and always came out tasting so good. The key is not to overcook, so the cookies are chewy and soft.

Directions

1
In a mixing bowl combine the shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla. Beat mixture till thoroughly combined. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture blending well.
2
Stir in chocolate pieces, and if desired nuts.
3
Drop dough by rounded teaspoon 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes or till edges are lightly browned.
4
Cool cookies on a wire rack.

You are welcome Bernice. When I think of chocolate chip recipes this is the one I use. I really hope it turns out as well as it has for the past 31 years for me.
