Ingredients

1/2 c butter
1/4 c sugar
1 c flour
1 c red cherries, candied, chopped
1 c chopped pecans
1 tsp water
1 tsp vanilla extract

Jennifer's Notes:

This is another good one from my Grandma Whitehead. We really enjoyed this one at the cookie swap, and I have made them several times since. The don't last too long around my house.

 

Directions

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.

Cream butter and add sugar gradually.

Add flour, cherries, pecans, water and vanilla, and mix thoroughly.

Shape into balls and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet.

Bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.

Roll in powdered sugar.

could you use dry cherries that you can buy year round or do they need to be candied ones?

I'm sure you could use those also. I like to make cherry white chocolate macadamia nut cookies and have used the dried ones. Hey, maybe I'll post that one too. I had forgotten about that one. lol
