This is a delicious, chewy, filling cookie bar. My family does not let this dessert set around the kitchen long. Enjoy!

14 oz
carmales (1 bag)
1 can(s)
evaporated milk
1 box
chocolate cake mix (with pudding)
1/2 c
butter, melted
1 c
chocolate chips
1 1/2 c
nuts (pecans)

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Melt the caramels plus 1/3 Cup of the evaporated milk, 3-4 minutes in the microwave. Stir every few minutes to not burn. When melted, leave in microwave to maintain the heat level.

In a large bowl, mix the remaining milk, cake mix and butter. Press HALF of the cake mix into a "Pam" sprayed 9 x 13 baking pan. Bake 8 minutes.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips, 1 cup of nuts over the crust you just baked. Top with the melted caramel mixture. Try to pour evenly about the pan.

Top with spoonfulls of remaining cake mixture,sprinkle with remaining nuts. Bake 16-18 minutes. Cool, Cut into bars.
