Homemade Chocolate Frosting

Good homemade frostings can be very hard to find, many are too sweet, too rich, or complicated to put together. I enjoy the flavors in this fabulous chocolate frosting, another essential recipe at my house.

8 oz
semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 c
cocoa powder, unsweetened
3/4 c
milk, whole
1/2 c
butter, unsalted
3 c
powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp
vanilla extract

Directions Step-By-Step

In a double boiler add chocolate chips, milk, and butter. Stir over medium heat until smooth. Add to mixer and beat in the powdered sugar, and vanilla. Blend until smooth, if very lumpy run it through a strainer. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, and then beat for another 1-2 minutes before using.
