2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 c water
2 1/2 c mixed pecan pieces,and halves
1 Tbsp butter

These were a favorite of my mother-in-law. However, she never could make these without burning them so she would buy the ingredients and have me make them for her. She was the best mother-in law anyone could ask for and I miss her dearly.

Combine sugar and water in a heavy 2-qt saucepan.

Heat to boiling, using low heat and stirring CONSTANTLY. Stir in pecans.

Cook until mixture reaches softball stage or 235 degrees. Be careful not to burn.

Remove from heat; stir in butter. Immediately drop by tablespoon onto waxed paper.

Let stand until firm.
Yield about 1 1/2 dozen.

They are so good but you have to stay on top of them to keep them from burning and they set up fast! Really easy once you know what you're dealing with. LOL
