So you aren't suppose to add the 2 cups of water? I'm confused...

This sounds like the fudge my mom used to make when I was young. And yes, my dad's favorite cake had this stuff as the icing. I remember it was good...very different than traditional fudge, not so rich, and you had to work with it quickly, as it hardened very fast. I don't think we used a double boiler, though. Just in a large saucepan on the stove. Now I'm going to go ask my mom about this one. :)

Jean,
you can use either unsweetened or sweetened cocoa powder. That's what I love about this recipe, is you can get creative with it! I hope you all enjoy it!

This old fashion fudge is my very favorite! My grandmother and mother also use this recipe to make a fudge icing for their yellow or white cake. It is soooooooooooo good!

sounds good, recipe should then start out, put two cups of water in bottom of double boiler...then begin, with ing. for top of boiler.
