This was fun and so easy to make.
Grandma lived on a farm, and had to make her own candy...to give to us grandchildren, when we visited.
She would also make her own
"sugar nipples" for when the babies cried.
A homemade pacifier!
She wet the corner of a hankie, dipped it in sugar, twisted it , tied a not and let the crying baby suck on it!!! It always worked!!
Talk about a sugar high!!!!

Ingredients

6 c
sugar
3 c
water
3/4 tsp
cream of tartar

Directions Step-By-Step

1
In a large saucepan, cook all above ingredients quickly without stirring to 290F.
Pour quickly into a grease square pan.
Chill until firm.
Turn out of pan, and crack into desired pieces.
Yield: 2 pounds.
2
Be sure you have a good dentist available in a couple years!!!

Ladies...You can substitute fruit juice for the liquid. Or you can add favorite extract and desired food coloring.
For party shapes...Pour rock candy into individual shaped molds, 1/4 inch thick.Chill.
makes about 1 dozen.
Would love to have you add some pictures to my site...Hugs, nancy
