I got this recipe from my mother. I love soft molasses/ginger cookies and these are the best I've tasted yet!

Please note that the serving size says "makes 48, supposedly" That is probably true if you stick with the 1-inch balls of dough, but I prefer a cookie that is a bit bigger.

Ingredients

MIX:

2 1/4 c
flour
2 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
ginger
1 tsp
cinnamon, ground
1/2 tsp
cloves
1/4 tsp
salt

ADD:

1 c
packed brown sugar
3/4 c
shortening or cooking oil
1/4 c
molasses
1
egg

Directions Step-By-Step

In small bowl, stir together the first five ingredients and salt; set aside. In large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating well.
Form 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 10-13 minutes.
