Melt the butter. Add the sugar.
Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Add the dates. Cook for five minutes.
Remove from heat and cool a few minutes.
Add hot mixture, a spoonful at a time, to the eggs. Stir rapidly.
Boil two minutes longer. Remove from heat.
Pour over rice krispies. Roll into balls. Roll balls in coconut or powdered sugar. Chill until serving time.
