1 box angel food cake mix (i use betty crocker)
1 can(s) lemon pie filling (i used one 21 oz can of comstock pie filling for a total of 42 oz)

Mix dry cake mix and cans of pie filling together in large bowl.
I just mixed it by hand...
Pour into greased 9 x 13″ baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until top is starting to brown.
Cool on wire rack and sprinkle with powered sugar. It has a melt in your mouth spongy texture.

I do this too, even make all kinds of flavered cakes and bars with my "trusty" angel food cake mix. You can do it with pie-fillings and cans of fruit. Here is just one... Pineapple Angelfood Sheet-Cake

I made this recipe to take to a friends house for Easter... It was awful!! I am known for my excellent cake/pastry baking and was embarrassed to say I had made this. It tasted like eating lemoned flavored foam rubber. A plain angel food cake with a fruit topping would have been so much better.
