Tastes just like a twinkie - big hit with kids. Recipe has been in my family for 30 years.

Ingredients

yellow cake mix

FROSTING

10 Tbsp
flour
2 c
milk
2 c
sugar
1 c
vegetable shortening
1/2 tsp
salt
2 tsp
vanilla
1 c
margarine

Directions Step-By-Step

Bake yellow cake in 2 8" round pans or 3 9" pans - greased. Bake @ 350 degrees for 17 - 20 minutes, or till toothpick comes out clean.

Frosting: in saucepan on stove, low to medium heat, cook flour and milk, stirring constantly till thick (alternate flour and milk when adding to avoid clumping). Let cool (or put in freezer while making other part of frosting). Using electric mixer, beat sugar, shortening, margarine, salt, and vanilla, about 15 minutes till sugar is no longer grainy or crunchy. Blend in cooked cooled mixture. Frost cooled cakes.
