prepare cake mix according to directions. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan, and pour 1/2 of the batter into pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. In a saucepan over low heat melt caramels with butter and milk. Remove cake from oven and pour caramel mixture over the half baked cake. Top this with chocolate chips and chopped pecans. Pour remaining cake batter over top of chips and pecans and return to oven to bake another 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
