Oh My - this is one DECADENT dessert. I just love the caramel, chocolate and nuts.
This recipe has the nuts as optional. I added a cup of pecans when I tested this recipe because you have to have nuts when it comes to turtle! This is so rich you can only eat a small piece.
- 1 box german chocolate or plain chocolate cake mix
- 1 (8 oz.) bag caramels
- 1 stick butter
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 small bag walnuts or pecans (opt.)
Note: If you use nuts, just stir them in the caramel mixture after you have melted the caramels, butter, and condensed milk together. Then spread this onto your first baked cake layer.
