Traditional Pound Cake

To make a really good pound cake the recipe must include 1 pound of flour, 1 pound of eggs, 1 pound of sugar and 1 pound of fat. This recipe has the necessary sugar fat ratio needed to make it moist, fluffy yet give it the dense texture that a pound cake needs.

Ingredients

3 c
all purpose flour
6
eggs
3 c
sugar
1 box
cream cheese
1 stick
butter
2 stick
margarine
2 tsp
lemon extract or any flavor

Step-By-Step

1Beat cream cheese, butter and margarine together for 3 minutes in an extra large mixing bowl. Add flavoring.
2Mix flour and sugar in another bowl. Add 1/2 cup flour mixture to butter mixture and beat thoroughly. Add 1 egg and beat thoroughly again. Continue adding alternatley 1/2 cup flour mixture and 1 egg until all have been mixed. Mixture will be stiff.
3Pour mixture into a well greased and floured tube pan. Place in a cold oven and set oven temp to 325 degrees. Bake for 1 hour before opening the door to check for doneness.
