Melt 3 T butter in a skillet add coconut and pecans,cooking and stirring till golden brown.Drain.
Mix cake according to direction adding 1 c coconut mixture.Divide among 3 8-inch greased & floured cake pans.Bake according to directions.
Cream remaining 3 T. butter and cream cheese until light.Add milk,vanilla and sugar 1 c at a time beating well until spreading consistency add remaining coconut mixture reserving 1/2 c to sprinkle on top.Fill and frost cakes.
