Ingredients

1/2 tsp unfalvored gelatin powder
2 Tbsp cold water
1 c whipping cream
2 Tbsp confectioners' sugar
pinch of salt

Directions

In bowl sprinkle gelatin over cold water. Scald 2 tablespoons of whipping cream and pour over gelatin. Stir until dissolved.

Refrigerate about 15 minutes. Then whisk until smooth.

Mix remaining cream, sugar and salt. Mix in smooth gelatin mixture stopping to scrape bowl twice.

(Fills and frosts top of 8 or 9 inch layer cake.)

thanks for posting this, my mom always did this, but I couldn't find that she had written it down any where, I usually just add dream whip to the cream to help stabilize it.

Sandy Mika, did that work, adding the "dream whip'? I used to use dream whip when I was a kid. I never thought of using it in whipped cream.

yes it does, but I use 2 envelopes to half cup instead of 1 envelope to half cup

I used to get this stuff from a 'Cake & Candy' store called, "Whip Cream Stabilizer". The family had made and decorated wedding cakes for some 50+ years, and went out of business in 2007. I haven't been able to find a good stabilizer since, even checking with my restaurant supply guys. Very frustrating. I will try this one.

do u use the whipping crean in the milk carton or do u use a frozen kind on in a can?
