My Granddaughter loves Elmo, so we made this elmo out of Rice Krispie Treats and placed it on white cake...I included lots of little details like a miniature cake out of rice krispies .She loved it..let your imagination go wild!
1In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat add 2 tsb vanilla
2Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated. (add a little at a time until well coated but not dry)
3allow to cool briefly (not more than 7 minutes in the refrigerator...coat your hands with butter and shape Elmo, circle for the head, oval with a flat bottom for the body, Shape arms and legs. Place a dowel on the neck and attach the head, add arms place 1/4 of a dowel through "shoulder" onto body, attach legs in the same fashion. The eyes, nose and miniature cake is also made from Rice krispies but use you imagination you could use a cupcake for the cake, Styrofoam balls for the eyes and nose let your imagination go wild! Once the Elmo is formed, chill well before icing. I made a tradition butter icing the first Elmo I made I used red food coloring it took over $10.00 of food coloring to get the right color. The next time I made the Elmo cake I used dry koolaid mix and added to the butter icing and the color was perfect and the taste was awesome! Keep finished cake chilled until serving
