Rhubarb Coffee Cake

I have had this recipe for over 40 years. My mother gave the recipe to me so I could use the rhubarb that use to be in our yard. Brings back many happy memories of my family.

Note: If you don't care for rhubarb or it is not available you can use tart chopped apples or blueberries instead.

Ingredients

2 c
all purpose flour
1 1/2 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
vanilla
1/4 tsp
cinnamon
1
egg
1/2 c
butter, softened
1 c
milk
1/2 tsp
salt
1 1/2 c
rhubarb, chopped

TOPPING

1/2 c
sugar
1 tsp
cinnamon
1/2 c
chopped nuts

Directions Step-By-Step

Mix cake ingredients well and pour into a greased 9x13 pan. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over the cake batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
