This is my moms recipe and is my dad and nieces favorite cake. I grew up on this cake. I use a cream cheese frosting on it and during Christmas I put green food color in the frosting to make it a festive cake. Its a very moist and flavorful cake.

1 ozbottle red food coloring

2 1/2 cflour

1 tspbaking soda

1 cbuttermilk

1 tspvanilla extract
How To Make red velvet cake

1Beat oil and sugar, add eggs one at a time beating well.

2Mix cocoa, vinegar and food coloring in until blended, add to sugar mixture.

3Mix flour, salt, baking soda, add alternately with buttermilk to sugar mixture.

4Beat 2 minutes, add vanilla and blend well.

5Grease and flour the pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes.
