Ginger's Story

This is very easy to prepare, and you will get compliements one after the other.

Ingredients

PUMPKIN GOOEY BUTTER CAKE
1 pkg
yellow cake mix
1
egg
8 Tbsp
butter, melted
FILLING:
1 (8oz.) pkg
cream cheese, softened
1 (15oz) can(s)
pumpkin
3
eggs
1 tsp
vanilla
8 Tbsp
butter, melted
1 (16oz.) box
powdered sugar
1 tsp
cinnamon
1 tsp
nutmeg

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9- inch baking pan.

To make the filling: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and pumpkin until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter, and beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and mix well. Spread pumpkin mixture over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to overbake as the center should be a little gooey.

Serve with fresh whipped cream.

Lori, I have been making this recipe that I found on FN by Paula Deen for many yrs. This recipe didn't have a pic, so I added one...and I choose to make it in pie form instead of in a 9"x13" pan.
I don't care for traditional crust, so it worked perfectly..IMO. It is the same crust as the recipe stated..it's just thinner when spread out in 2-3 pie pans..which is what I like about making it in pie form. I have made it in a 9"x13" pan and think the crust is too thick. Over the yrs I have improved it by making 1 1/2 times the filling(with less sugar and more spices) and making 3 pies, that way the crust stays thinner.

why is the picture a pumpkin pie with a traditional crust? certainly isn't from this recipe.

Made this today and I am ashamed to say I had two pieces, but they sure were good!!!1 Will definitely be making this one for Thanksgiving!!!
