This recipe has been a favorite in my family for years. Similar to Hostess Suzy Q's, but even better! It disappears as soon as we make it!!

CAKE

2 c
flour
1/2 tsp
salt
2 c
sugar
2 stick
margarine or butter
4 Tbsp
cocoa powder
1 c
water
2
eggs
1 Tbsp
vanilla extract
1/2 c
sour milk
1 tsp
baking soda

FLUFFY FILLING

4 Tbsp
flour
1 c
milk
1 c
shortening
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 c
sugar

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 375. Grease 11x17x1 cookie sheet

Sift together 2 cups sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 2 cups flour.

Bring to boil: 2 sticks margarine, 4 tablespoons cocoa, and 1 cup water

Beat together: 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon vanilla, 1/2 cup sour milk (mix milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar), and 1 teaspoon baking soda.

Mix everything together. Pour into greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes. Cool. Cut cake in half

For filling....
Cook 4 tablespoons flour in 1 cup milk until thick. Let cool to lukewarm or room temp.

Cream 1 cup shortening, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 cup sugar together.

Add flour mixture and beat well

Spread on half the cake. Flip second half on top
