These are truly delicious! I make these every so often just because they are one of my favorite bars to make and eat! Great for the holidays but also any time, trust me! **Estimated Cook Time is just total time estimation from beginning to end.

Ingredients For festive fruitcake bars

  • 1 c
    flour, gold medal all purpose
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    margarine, softened
  • 1 tsp
    orange peel, grated
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    flour, gold medal all purpose
  • 2 1/2 c
    cherries, candied
  • 1 pkg
    pitted dates, 8 oz, cut in half
  • 1 c
    pecans, coarsely chopped pecans or filberts (i use pecans)
  • ORANGE GLAZE
  • 1/3 c
    granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    orange juice, fresh

How To Make festive fruitcake bars

  • 1
    Heat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches. In large bowl, mix 1 cup flour, the brown sugar, butter, orange peel, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and egg with spoon.

    In medium bowl, mix 1/4 cup flour, the cherries, dates and pecans; stir into brown sugar mixture. Spread in pan.

    Bake about 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
