These are truly delicious! I make these every so often just because they are one of my favorite bars to make and eat!

Great for the holidays but also any time, trust me!

Ingredients

1 c
flour, gold medal all purpose
3/4 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c
margarine, softened
1 tsp
orange peel, grated
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
1/4 tsp
salt
1
egg
1/4 c
flour, gold medal all purpose
2 1/2 c
cherries, candied
1 pkg
pitted dates, 8 oz, cut in half
1 c
pecans, coarsely chopped pecans or filberts (i use pecans)

ORANGE GLAZE

1/3 c
granulated sugar
2 Tbsp
orange juice, fresh

Directions Step-By-Step

Heat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches. In large bowl, mix 1 cup flour, the brown sugar, butter, orange peel, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and egg with spoon.

In medium bowl, mix 1/4 cup flour, the cherries, dates and pecans; stir into brown sugar mixture. Spread in pan.

Bake about 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
