Ingredients For chocolate mousse cake

  • 1 - 12 oz pkg
    semi sweet chocolate pieces
  • 1 stick
    butter, room temperature
  • 6 x lg
    eggs, separated
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp
    confectioners' sugar

How To Make chocolate mousse cake

    Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Spray a 9" springform pan with cooking spray; dust lightly with cornstarch.

    Combine chocolate & water in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, just until chocolate melts. Pour into large bowl; cool to room temperature.

    Beat egg whites until foamy in a medium bowl with mixer at high speed. Gradually add sugar, beating until soft peaks form. Add egg yolks to chocolate mixture; stir until blended. Stir in cornstarch.

    Fold egg whites into chocolate mixture until thoroughly blended. Pour into prepared pan.

    Bake 40 - 45 minutes or until set. Run a knife around the edge immediately after removing from oven.

    Cool on a wire rack. Remove side of pan. Sprinkle top with confectioners' sugar.
