Fran's StoryMom got this recipe from my Aunt Waneta Lynch Harris around 1963. My brother, Bob, always wanted this cake as his birthday cake.
Mom always served it without frosting, but my niece, Emilea, who is a pastry chef, recently added a cream cheese frosting. So I'm including a Cream Cheese Topping that can be added, if you wish. =^..^=
peeled apples, sliced thin
walnut pieces, optional
CREAM CHEESE TOPPING
cream cheese, room temperature
margarine or butter
1 1/2 c
2Add oil, baking soda, baking powder, flour, vanilla, eggs, walnuts, & raisins to the apples & sugar and mix together well. You may need to add a little milk (start with 1 Tablespoon) to make the batter stirrable, depending on the juiciness of the apples.
5Sprinkle with a little confectioner's sugar, if desired. Serve warm or cooled. Top with Cream Cheese Topping or whipped cream.
