That's a good question concerning the size of the can. I used a two 21 ounce cans of Duncan Hines Cherry Pie Filling. We only have one size can here and I didn't think about the difference. Thank you for helping me be more precise. I tend to be a cook that uses a pinch of this and a dash of that. I make things work when I don't have a specific ingredient. Have a warm day.

The original recipe called for two sticks of butter. I use one stick of butter. The original recipe also called for a can of pie filling and a can of pineapple. We are not crazy about pineapple in our cake so I used two cans of cherry pie filling instead. I was just at the store and saw strawberry pie filling. I think that would be good with the dark chocolate cake as well:) I haven't tried that yet.
Enjoy!
