Colleen's StoryThis is an old recipe used at Church Camps, Scouts and Families.
It is sure to bring back lots of fun memories from camping!
yellow or white cake mix
7-up (sprite, or any lemon-lime pop)
pie filling (any flavor, peach, apple, blueberry and cherry are best)
1Put cake mix into a bowl. Stir out any lumps. Add the can of pop. Stir (don't beat), until batter is formed (don't over stir... you want the bubbles from the pop!)
2Line a Dutch oven with aluminum foil. Butter the foil.
3Evenly spread the canned pie filling over the bottom of the Dutch oven.
4Pour the batter over the fruit layer. Put lid on Dutch oven.
5Set the Dutch oven on 8 to 10 coals. Put 10 to 15 coals on the lid. Let cook 45 to 55 minutes. Dust off the lid before opening.
6*** For a richer dessert, you can add up to 1 stick of butter or margarine cut in small pieces to the top of the batter.
*** You can use one flavor of fruit or two kinds of fruit...it is great either way!
