Colleen's Story

This is an old recipe used at Church Camps, Scouts and Families.

It is sure to bring back lots of fun memories from camping!

Ingredients

BATTER:
1 box
yellow or white cake mix
1 can(s)
7-up (sprite, or any lemon-lime pop)
FILLING:
2 can(s)
pie filling (any flavor, peach, apple, blueberry and cherry are best)

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Put cake mix into a bowl. Stir out any lumps. Add the can of pop. Stir (don't beat), until batter is formed (don't over stir... you want the bubbles from the pop!)
2
Line a Dutch oven with aluminum foil. Butter the foil.
3
Evenly spread the canned pie filling over the bottom of the Dutch oven.
4
Pour the batter over the fruit layer. Put lid on Dutch oven.
5
Set the Dutch oven on 8 to 10 coals. Put 10 to 15 coals on the lid. Let cook 45 to 55 minutes. Dust off the lid before opening.
6
*** For a richer dessert, you can add up to 1 stick of butter or margarine cut in small pieces to the top of the batter.

*** You can use one flavor of fruit or two kinds of fruit...it is great either way!
