Beat eggs well, dradually add sugar and beat again. Pour in oil and beat until smooth. Sift together salt, soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour. Beat in vanilla and rum fold in apples, raisins and nuts. Bake in a greased and floured tube pan for 2 hours at 320 degrees but check after the first 1 1/2 hour to see if the cake is done. This cake keeps well wrapped in foil.
