My love of apple butter started as a kid. One bite of this moist cake and so many childhood memories came flooding back. Thanks to the addition of cinnamon and lots of vanilla, the icing is so good - definitely worthy of sampling with a spoon. And the smell while this baked... you're going to wish you could bottle it up. It's that good!

Ingredients For apple butter bars with cinnamon frosting

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    vegetable oil
  • 2 c
    apple butter
  • 4
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • CINNAMON FROSTING
  • 2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1/3 c
    butter
  • 3 oz
    package of cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make apple butter bars with cinnamon frosting

    Preheat oven to 350.
  • 2
    Measure all ingredients except for frosting into a large mixing bowl and beat on low speed until moistened. Then at medium speed for 2 minutes.

    Pour into greased 11x13 pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center come out clean. Cool completely.

    To prepare the frosting, add ingredients to a bowl and mix until light and fluffy.

    Spread with frosting. Cut into 48 bars.
