This bread gets better and better with time, peaking at about day five, or so I'm told, but seeing as how we have usually devoured every last crumb by day two, I can't really say much about the taste improving with age.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 cups peeled and grated pears
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups sugar

How To Make pear bread

  • Step 1
    Combine flour, soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and pecans in a large bowl. Make a well in the mixture. Combine oil, eggs, sugar, pears and vanilla; add to dry ingredients stirring just until moistened.
  • Step 2
    Spoon mixture into two well greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 325 F for 1 1/4 hours or until bread test done. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans.
