KING'S HAWAIIAN BREAD - copycat

Jo Anne's Story

A request has been made for the King's Hawaiian brand bread. There are many copycat recipes. Here is a one that has a pretty high rating.

Ingredients

6 c
flour
3
eggs
1 c
pineapple juice
1 c
water
3/4 c
sugar
1/2 tsp
ground ginger
1 tsp
vanilla extract
2 pkg
yeast
1 stick
butter

Directions Step-By-Step

In a medium bowl, beat eggs, add pineapple juice, water, sugar, ginger, vanilla and melted butter.

In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, egg mixture and stir well.

Sprinkle yeast, one package at a time, mix well.

Gradually add the remaining 3 cups of flour, the batter will be hard to mix with a spoon. You may have to use your hands, make sure that it is mixed well.

Put the dough in a bowl and cover with a cloth and place it in a warm area. Let it rest for about an hour.

Remove the dough from the bowl and knead in 1/2 cup of flour, knead about 10 times.

Divide the dough into 3 equal parts and place in a well greased round cake pans.

Cover and place in a warm area and let rise, about an hour.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

Yield: 3 loaves

Aloha Rachel, I am so glad that people are willing to try new recipes and even putting a spin of their own on it. We are both alike, I struggled with the recipes that I have posted here because I don't measure either, I think scratch cooking is just great!!! Can i just say Jo Anne that I love you! lol..... after seeing so many awesome dishes of yours in the general area I am now looking up all of yours specifically ..... and so far i'm saving a ton of them...lol... keep up the good work! Maybe i'll actually learn to measure and write things down..... I tend to throw in a little of this and that and whatever strikes my fancy, it's ends up great but when people ask how i made it i can't completely duplicate it for them on paper
