1Cream shortening & sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and beat until creamy. Add flour witrh baking powder, baking soda, and salt, alternately with apple. Stir in cinnamon, vanilla, and nuts. Turn batter into 1 large or 2 small loaf pans (greased & floured). Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour (large pan) or 50 minutes (small pans). Cool before slicing.

Yes - she was/is very special - and such a good person - which is rare these days unfortunately. Her birthday would have been the 13th of March - and it will be difficult - as my whole life she was there each birthday. I know she was 98 and lived a wonderful life - but it still is hard on those of us left behind. I sincerely hope that you enjoy her recipes. Thank you so very much for your response!

Hello Sandy, My mom made date nut bread and it was awesome. Nobody could make like mom, I tried making it but it was not the same. I bet your mom Apple Nut Bread was about the same nobody could make quit like her. I'm going to this recipe a try, when I make I will post a pictuer how it turned for me.
