IT IS A FAMILY FAVORITE, I SERVED IT AT A CELEBRITY PARTY ONCE AND DIDN'T MAKE ENOUGH. THERE WAS OTHER CORNBREAD THERE, BUT THEY WOULD NOT EAT IT. I HAD TO ACTUALLY MAKE MORE AND THEY WAITED.

Ingredients

1 c
yellow selfrising meal
1 2/3 c
buttermilk
1 Tbsp
sugar
1
egg
3 Tbsp
butter flavor shortening

PREHEAT OVEN TO 400

Step-By-Step

1IN AN 8 INCH SKILLET.
PUT THREE TBSP OF CRISCO AND PLACE IN OVEN TO MELT.
2IN A MEDIUN BOWL.... MIX MEAL & SUGAR, STIR TO MIX WELL.
ADD MILK AND STIR.
POUR TWO TABLESPOONS OF MELTED SHORTING INTO MIX, LEAVING ONE TBSP IN THE SKILLET.
ADD EGG AND MIX WELL.
3POUR MIX INTO SKILLET WITH THE 1 TBSP OF MELTED SHORTENING.
TAKE SPOON AND DRIZZLE MELTED SHORTENING ACROSS TOP.

BAKE UNTIL TIME TO BROWN
