Ingredients For applesauce muffins by sharon

  • MUFFINS
  • cooking spray or shortening
  • 1/2 c
    or more, chopped nuts (optional)
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour or unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    applesauce
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • TOPPING
  • 3 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/4 c
    butter or margarine, melted

How To Make applesauce muffins by sharon

    Muffin Directions: Preheat oven to 425°F. Spray or grease muffin cups.

    If using nuts, dust them with flour. Then, stir together all dry ingredients in muffin section. Mix applesauce, egg, and melted butter. Pour all at once, into flour mixture. Stir, just until moistened. Pour batter into greased muffin cups.

    Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Makes 12 muffins.

    Topping Directions: Combine all dry ingredients. Dips tops of hot baked muffins in melted butter; then, in sugar mixture. Serve warm.
